The King of Swords
The Prince of the Chariots of the Winds

The King of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Consideration
Diplomacy
Fairness
Thought
Respect
Compassion

The King of Swords - Appearance
My King stands upright protectively shielding his glinting inverted Sword. Behind him a dreamlike cloudscape moves from calm to grey. The images of the Moon representing introspection & a butterflies wing which hints at the Air element of the suit. Two trees frame the king one of which floats in the air and bursts into flames, showing that even the most unexpected events do not surprise this King. Musical notes are glimpsed floating in front of my King of Swords indicating that he moves through life to his own carefully structured internal tune.

The King of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation
When the King of Swords appears in the reading of another the need to understand and unravel the truth of their existence is paramount. The King can be a considerable enemy but will become a true ally to those who accept his unflinching code for living. He is set in his ways & is unwavering in his belief that his way is the right way. Though he has overcome insecurity the King has risen to be respected in his field and can be relied upon to diplomatically decipher even the most difficult and complex projects. The King is very careful to control his outward appearance and his emotions are hidden to even those who may get close to him. Personal relationships are nearly impossible as to the uninitiated he may appear completely self absorbed. This King is far happier giving advice around matters of logistics or business. The King is almost hindered by an incredible thought process that continues  even when he sleeps. If he comes to represent another in a reading then he is almost certainly an insomniac who is obsessed with the small details. Likewise often the King of Swords can relate to a military connection and will possibly have friends scattered around the globe. Trustworthy & of strong character The King of Swords is a strong anchor to any reading. Should the King appear in an ill dignified position in the reading his focus can turn to unhealthy introspection, he can also appear to indicate that the questioner is severely lacking structure to their existence and needs to urgently develop a plan for how they want their life to progress.

The dominance of Leo is balanced by Libra

My Relationship with The King of Swords
If the King appears in my reading I know that I need to carefully analyse my life. He often appears when the need to listen to authority figures or challenges involving business are on the horizon. The King will offer me advice I know, though it will only be from his perspective. Often this is the lacking piece of the puzzle and legal or business research is where I need to focus. Difficult for me as the more creative and esoteric sides of my concerns are of far more interest to me. When the King of Swords appears any advancement is solely down to mental clarity and focus, it is pointless to try and bluff through as strong commitment and planning are the only tools that will bring about a successful conclusion. The focus of the King warns against emotional attachment, reason & careful consideration of the bigger picture are what is needed.

The King of Swords - Be careful in your plans and Justice will be done.

The Queen of Swords
The Queen of the Thrones of Air

The Queen of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Stoicism
Independence
Courage
Positivity
Endurance
Wisdom
Reliability

The Queen of Swords - Appearance
My Queen of Swords is alone in a clear sky, storm clouds gather beneath her though she is unaware of this. The barren landscape indicates that the Queen is alone, often showing a recently ended relationship. The butterflies, the Angel and the clouds on her dress are all signs of her powerful thought process, linked to the element of Air in the suit of Swords. The Angel also shows a connection with tradition or possible mediumistic abilities.

The Queen of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

The Queen stares assuredly from the card. This Queen is steadfast determined and totally self assured. If this card appears in the reading of the seeker then a powerful matriarch can be identified somewhere in there family. If the Queen represents the seeker themselves then they have almost certainly faced great challenges and learnt many of life's hardest lessons. The Queen indicates that the seeker has great confidence, intelligence and can be relied upon in times of adversity. She is not an easy acquaintance to make, though once you have entered her inner circle you have an ally for life. The suit of Swords is not an easy suit, the overwhelming feeling of this card is of unhappiness, of suffering or loss. This Queen is pragmatic though and does not dwell on past disappointments. Often if this card appears the Queen is questioning what the seeker intends to do with their life, she is a crad of industry, of business and does not tolerate time-wasting or frivolous behaviour. Often a loner, the Queen can make qualified decisions and can be trusted in business. If the Queen of Swords appears in an area of a reading relating to the seeker then the message is that either they are to meet someone who represents her character, or, that the seeker needs to emulate her powers in order to further their development.

The Queen of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences
The modesty of Virgo combines with the Intuitive side of the Moon

My Relationship with The Queen of Swords
When the Queen appears to me I know to trust my independence, to slow down, take a deep breath and draw on my experience to face whatever dilemma has arisen. The Queen often presents to me as a widow, as a wise old sage, someone who's advice can be trusted. If the Queen arises patience is to be applied, the trials & tribulations of life are presenting new challenges and the solidity and courage of the Queen are to be applied. In any business dealings the Queen reminds me that the only way to do business is the right way. Any shortcuts are to be avoided, I have learnt the hard way that cutting corners only costs more in the long run. Like wise the Queen shows me that any dealings with people who approach me must be scrupulously dealt with. Many people who I have read for resurface in my life many years later & it is imperative that I can be confident our previous meetings were handled professionally, recommendations often occur many years later. One final though the melancholy outlook of the Queen often sparks memories of friends long since departed. The Queen has known sorrow, though she knows better than anyone that true friendship really does live forever in your heart. Remember good times, do not dwell on past regrets, just allow them to build within you, to make you stronger.

The Queen of Swords - Trust in yourself, be courageous and have no regrets.

The Knight of Swords
The Lord of the Winds and the Breezes

The Knight of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Drama
Passion
Conviction
Change
Rationality
Truth
Turmoil

The Knight of Swords - Appearance
My Knight of Swords hides behind his visor, plumed with the white feather of intellect. The electrically charged sword is ready for dramatic battle, this is crossed by the red feather that warns against our thought process being overwhelmed by emotion. The white horse is built for speed and runs toward the storm that bends the trees in the distance, this shows the battle will not be easy. The turbulent seas indicate certain change & instability, the butterflies show that a period of of calm awaits after the storm. The high flying birds tell us that we must rise high above our current obstacles, form a plan, then act swiftly and decisively, with no regrets.

The Knight of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

The Knight of Swords crashes on through this the most dramatic suit of the minor arcana. This Knight is on a quest to, once and for all, put some element of his existence into order. The Knight of Swords embodies the intellectual root of this suit, once he has the facts he will battle ruthlessly for change to resolve long term dilemmas. If the Knight appears to represent the seeker in a spread, almost certainly dissatisfaction with an aspect of their lives has been building resentment. Sudden change of direction and a detached approach is shown around the Knight. He will say exactly what is needed to bring about resolution, often not sparing the feelings of those around him. His intelligence is obvious, though tact is definitely not his strong point.

The Knight of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences
The duality of Gemini combined with the authority of Aries

My Relationship with The Knight of Swords

When the Knight storms in to my reading I prepare for a radical shift in my outlook. He usually appears to me when I have been formulating a radical need for change. I know that I will have to be at my sharpest and trust my gut instincts as major decisions are afoot. I find the Knight crops up around seekers who are considering major upheaval, such as relocation or a radical change of career. Also on turning over The Knight of Swords I get ready to face conflict though am confident that I will be victorious should I keep my facts straight & a level head. The speed with which the Knight travels usually indicates a swift, exciting, stimulating period of my life is opening up. Though I know it will be short lived, dramatic changes always correspond to the Knight of Swords.

The Page of Swords
The Lotus of the Palace of Air

The Page of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Ruthlessness
Childish
Versatility
Confusion
Secrecy
Trickery
Gossip

The Page of Swords - Appearance
My Page of Swords is seen emerging from tumbling clouds, he can disappear as quickly as he arrives. Though he may have the appearance of an adult, many childlike attributes still remain. He can have the inquisitiveness of a child, yet he can also be as obstinate as any troublesome teenager. Though this is not generally accepted, my Page is represented by the secretiveness of Scorpio, shown by his tattoo. The Page is young & has not yet learnt full control of his Sword so care is needed around him, he can be dangerous. The icy mountainous landscape in the background indicates that the page has trouble with emotion & finds close relationships difficult, preferring to keep his feelings to himself.

The Page of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation
As with all pages the Page of Swords is a messenger, whether you should trust him is another matter. He can symbolise a period of exceptional ideas being generated by the element of air. Will any of these ideas be followed to fruition?, unlikely if the Page is involved. As you can tell, the Page of Swords is a card of duality. He can represent a diplomatic thinker who speeds resolution to the most troublesome decisions. He can also represent a dangerous, unreliable, gossip who borders on deceit. The Page does not understand the power of his sword & will use it without thinking, or remorse, to get whatever he needs to from you. The Page is at best a gamble & in a reading represents the need to be alert to the actions of those around you. Certainly when he appears, the seeker should not take anything at face value. This is especially important around long term plans or anything involving finances. When the Page appears in a reading it must be stressed that the questioner must not be charmed into acting out of character, the Page is quick & his actions far reaching. He will be long gone when the repercussions arise, tread carefully.

The secrecy of Scorpio

My Relationship with The Page of Swords

When the Page appears in my personal spread a lot of hard lessons return to taunt me. I know that the Page always indicates that any long term choices I am set to make must be given due consideration. I also know that against my better judgement I must seek advice from someone I trust who is removed from the dilemma at hand. The Page delights in malicious gossip that appears frivolous at first, though later returns to us in darker, more complicated forms. Though we all enjoy gossip we all know when we have crossed the line, when karma will come back to bite us. I am lucky to have several acquaintances who are trustworthy & can remain neutral. These people can step back and get the true measure of any development, I have learnt the hard way that I should sometimes trust the advice of others, if the Page shows up, this is definitely one of those times. The Page signifies a period of creativity that is entering my life that is unfocussed. Though it is often necessary for me to look at my work, as would the Page, ' through the eyes of a child'. It is always important for me to introduce structure to my work in order to make sure that the true value of what I am creating can be realised. If the Page of Swords appears around any form of official document or contract, I know that extreme caution must be exercised on my part. The energy of the Page extends to business of all kinds and advice should be sought if he arrives at the beginning of a new venture.

The Page of Swords - An exciting time, but do not let down your guard.

The Ten of Swords
The Lord of Ruin

The Ten of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Inevitability
Promise
Endings
Resolutions
Beginnings
Crisis
Optimism

The Ten of Swords - Appearance
My 10 of Swords card shows a colourful dawn breaking through an electric sky. A mountainous horizon is seperated from the shore by still, glass like water. The tenth sword pierces a diary page, indicating release from circumstance. As the tip of the sword pierces the earth blood emerges as if from a fresh wound.

The Ten of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation
Clearly not a jolly card, the Ten of Swords smacks of inevitability, of the need to make a clean break. Though very dark the dawn indicates a new beginning awaits after a major decision has been made to alleviate a troublesome period. Great uneasiness has been experienced before the ten appears, we are now resigned to a painful, though fresh start. We accept our lot as it really is, no longer view situations through rose tinted glasses & make our choice with conviction. There is certainly need for a clear outlook, the need to finally let go of an aspect of our lives, or even an element of our personality. Often when this card appears in the reading of a seeker, I know that they are not as yet resolved to how there lives are to develop. They may not know that there life will go through a complete transition. If this card appears I tread carefully as often unexpected changes to the questioner's life & even relationships are just beyond their comprehension. Though these changes may not always mean the end of a relationship, a significant shift is always indicated. This requires a completely new outlook, the seeker has to accept that they will need to be strong to forge the new dawn to their advantage.

My Relationship with The Ten of Swords

When I turn over the Ten of Swords in my personal readings, a phase of my life is almost certainly concluding. I know that a new, inevitable, chapter is dawning & I must welcome the change with open arms. On a personal level I have turned this card and felt all illusions of a troubled relationship fall away, ending the relationship immediately & finally. Though this seems ruthless, this card often gives us the power to end an unsatisfactory relationship, job, friendship or even personal outlook. It is a card that gives us long term vision, that lets us end something before it becomes truly troublesome. Better to get out before we are trapped merely by habit, The Ten of Swords shows us with the dawn that the only way is up. If we are brave enough to make such a strong & uneasy choice, then we have really learnt from the experience, we can rise as the phoenix to move forward with nothing holding us back.

The Ten of Swords - A fresh start is necessary , are you strong enough ? A new beginning awaits.

The Nine of Swords
The Lord of Despair and Cruelty

The Nine of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Anxiety
Nightmares
Pessimism
Stress
Fear
Opportunity
Circumstance

The Nine of Swords - Appearance
The Nine of Swords in my deck is indeed the card of nightmares. The Nine Swords obscure a dreamlike cloudscape, a snarling wolf can be glimpsed. Spinning astrological symbols represent imbalance, a yellow moon & large spiders web are softened by a red rose.

The Nine of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

My Nine of Swords continues the test of the intellect that is the theme of this suit. The subconscious is challenged when the Nine appears. The seeker may be under duress & indeed at the point where they are not sure of what is real or of true importance. Depression or anxiety are never far away from this card, it is important to decipher what are real fears & which are in fact inventions of the questioner's troubled mind. Unsurprisingly this card often represents insomnia, the fears compounded in those dark hours just before the dawn. The seeker needs to be reminded that as in so many other cards of this suit, many of the fears represented are generated by the seeker themselves, if they strive to resolve any feelings of anxiety, they can begin to truly see which concerns are 'real' and which should be dismissed as creations of a period of unhappiness. Often in life things are indeed nowhere near as bad as we initially feared. If this occurs we must learn from the lesson, to decide to only see the positives in our future as to give in to troubling fantasies is a dangerous course that will inevitably lead us to extreme unhappiness. We must face our fears & then after having done so experience the surge of release, the sense of freedom that is generated.

The heat of Mars in Aries with the duplicity of Gemini

My Relationship with The Nine of Swords

When the Nine of Swords appears in my spread, I to steel myself against my internal voice painting a darker picture than the situation actually merits. I know that the Nine of Swords has a tendency to stir up anxiety or nightmarish consequences from even the most seemingly innocuous events. This card can be relied upon to provide a distorted perception of the future, especially if it appears next to other seemingly 'dark' cards. I often feel the need to put myself outside of current events when the Nine appears as it is always an indicator that instincts must not be relied upon as they are tainted by the powers of the Moon. As with all the threatening cards of the suit of Swords, deep down I know that the power of this card is illusionary, by realising that I am giving it it's power over me, I can release myself from it's grip, get things truly into perspective & strike out towards a more confident future.

The Nine of Swords - We can all be gripped by nightmares, now is the time to wake up.

The Eight of Swords
The Lord of Interference

The Eight of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Fear
Imprisonment
Paranoia
Indecisiveness
Unhappiness
Inhibition
Stress

The Eight of Swords - Appearance

On my Eight of Swords card a blindfold is suspended above the eight glinting swords that appear to form a 'cage'. To add to the feeling of claustrophobia a pair of hands are tied & bound in the foreground. A sinister though enticing castle is seen across still, cold looking water, representing fear of authority. The foreground is uninviting marshland, likely to make progress difficult.

The Eight of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

When the Eight appears the questioner is certainly restrained, though usually, in fact, by their own indecision. The bounds are easily broken & the cage of Swords is only held together by the fear of the seeker. Though the legs are not visible the seeker is free to walk away from whatever it is that they imagine has imprisoned them. And though the first few steps will be difficult, indicated by the marshland, each stride forward will free them further. This card is often related to stress, sometimes the questioner has become so stressed that they have built the cage of swords for themselves. It is the job of this card to tell them that they are free to move on, once they accept the circumstance that has led them to feel this way. If this is a recurring problem in the life of the questioner then they should seek help or advice from someone objective, away from their circle. Only an outsider can sometimes easily recognise self limiting or repetitive damaging patterns of behaviour. This card is claustrophobic & always indicates that contrary to their outward appearance, the questioner is feeling like they are a prisoner of circumstance. If this card appears in a reading, the seeker is to be encouraged to realise that they can break free from the cage of the Eight of Swords by accepting that they have been looking at life from the wrong perspective, shatter the cage of swords & escape the restrictions of self induced mental imprisonment..

Alchemical Elements : Air

The Eight of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences
The inertia of Saturn negates the fluidity of Pisces.

My Relationship with The Eight of Swords

Whenever the Eight of Swords appears in my personal spread I know that outside help is necessary. In order to escape the bonds of this card I must seek advice from a trusted advisor. I am extremely lucky in that I respond incredibly well to Hypnosis. I can seek a trusted qualified hypnotherapist, relate my problems, & usually within 1 session the relevant area of my subconscious has been reprogrammed. I can look at my problems ( usually stress related ) and plan a different strategy to resolve the complications long term. Sometimes there is a reluctance to face problems around this card as it is obvious from the symbolism that the task will not be easy. This type of indecision is what gives the Eight of Swords it's power, we must accept our circumstances, and indeed our part in creating them. Once I have accepted that I am at least partly to blame for my present circumstance, I can take steps to break down the limiting beliefs, lose my inhibitions & strive forward with a sense of achievement. One disclaimer, I have found should this card appear with the Devil in close proximity, the problems of the seeker may be out of their control, they may be under the control of another, in a dysfunctional relationship or have substance issues that need to be professionally resolved before progress can be made.

The Seven of Swords
The Lord of Futility

The Seven of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Deceit
Gossip
Integrity
Weakness
Uncertainty
Reputation

The Seven of Swords - Appearance

On my Seven of swords cards a guilty looking magpie checks over its shoulder in front of a sulphurous sky. Five gleaming swords have been claimed though two remain upright in the ground. In the background tents reminiscent of a funfair are closed to hiding their contents.

The Seven of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

When the Seven of Swords appears, be careful not to indulge in idle gossip as this will undoubtedly breed an atmosphere of failure that will return to undermine. The Seven warns that any uncaring lazy attitude will only weaken the position of the seeker. Relationships or projects undertaken under the influence of this card, will certainly be on unstable ground. The Aquarian element shows that the seeker is detached from their circumstances and are responding emotionally rather than with the rationality of thought. If this card appears you need to be tactful and be careful to use diplomacy in all of your dealings. Any underhand methods will be revealed and will leave the seeker feeling spiritually bankrupt. The seeker needs to believe 100% in their actions and needs to find a different approach to their current challenging situation. When this card appears then the cat is truly out of the bag and we must confront situations head on in order to defuse long-term repercussions. This card warns the only way to gain advantage is through hard work and by truly being the best incarnation of ourselves, perseverance is the only solution.

My Relationship with The Seven of Swords

When the Seven of Swords appears in my readings I know that I will have to use my powers in the most intelligent way I can imagine. I know that if I storm into a scenario, certain failure is the only possibility. Though everybody enjoys gossip, in this instance it will magnify and lead to a truly uncomfortable outcome. The only plan when the magpie of the seven alights on my reading is to pre-empt any problems and build a plan to defuse any building complications. I know that by being economical with the truth I could temporarily move ahead, however the power of karma will return to punish me should I follow this path. When this card appears I carefully analyse my prospects, search to remedy any conflict and work hard to move ahead with the power of honest, logical thinking.

The Six of Swords
The Lord of Earned Success

The Six of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Movement
Turbulence
Acceptance
Security
Travel
Spirituality

The Six of Swords - Appearance
On my Six of Swords card, shadowy figures drift from turbulent waters into safer currents. Brightness breaks through cloudy sky and the Castle indicating safe haven can be glimpsed in the distance.

The Six of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

After the harrowing experience of the five of swords the six offers relief and allows the seeker to drift towards a more secure phase of their existence. Problems will have been resolved and mental turmoil will have been processed leaving behind a calmer state of mind. This card is a paradox, the inherent difficulty of the suit of swords, combined with the feelings of relief indicated by this card, show an interesting and enlightening period lies ahead. Though the vessel is drifting into safer waters, the final destination indicated by the Castle has not yet been reached, problems are fading away, however, the two-dimensional feeling of the figures in the boat indicate that we are not safe until self-limiting patterns of behaviour are truly left behind. This card indicates residual anxiety surrounds the seeker with regard to all aspects of their life. The future, by its very nature, remains unknown, the cards that surround the Six of Swords in any reading must come under scrupulous interpretation. When this card appears the seeker has surmounted many obstacles, has learned many hard lessons and is ready to accept that the future is set to improve. Outmoded friendships and destructive patterns of behaviour must be left behind in the turbulent waters of the six, a fresh cycle begins with this journey.

The Six of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences
The fluidity of Mercury is interpreted through the skill of Aquarius.

My Relationship with The Six of Swords

Whenever the six appears to me personally I recognize the journey, though possibly physical and to quote the cliche often 'overwater', frequently indicates a spiritual transition. If this card appears I know to be wary that negative thought patterns may be corrupting my current take on reality. I know that life is a cathartic experience and on this journey we can only move forward, to look back is redundant, we can, and must, only move forward, accepting any fresh obstacles or challenges with open arms. This card always appears as it has today when there is a major shift occurring in my life, when I am moving from one major phase into another. I know when the Six of Swords appears that I have failed to recognise unhappiness and mental unbalance that have almost certainly been affecting my judgement. I offer thanks to this and climb aboard the boat of the Six of Swords to take the journey to my undisclosed destination. If the period of indecision is extended I make sure not to drift aimlessly, but take control and steer myself towards the reality that I know I deserve. As I write these words after an extended period of hard work I can feel anxiety drain away, the passage shown in the Six of Swords will, I know, renew my energies and prepare me for whatever fresh challenge life has yet to deal.

The Six of swords, you are moving into safer water, allow yourself to drift away from difficulty.

The Five of Swords
The Lord of Defeat

The Five of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Karma
Conscience
Conflict
Acceptance
Pride
Limitation

The Five of Swords - Appearance
The appearance of The Five of Swords builds on the image of the previous card. The five swords are arranged with three in a positive upright position whilst two face towards the seeker representing residual opposition. The brick wall is greatly reduced, a brooding sky appears to be clearing, revealing the calm after the storm.

The Five of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

The Five of Swords indicates that we have accepted our limitations, that we have considered our position and are willing to accept losses in order to move towards a positive outcome. It when the seeker draws this card I often sense that disquiet around their personal relationships has left them resentful and wishing to seek revenge. The lesson here is that the only option is to be magnanimous, resign ourselves to any blocks in our path, and walk away with our pride intact. The two badly placed swords suggest that we are feeling overpowered or dominated in some way and that we must accept vulnerability to rise above the situation, stepped back and accept that through defeat we will only emerge stronger. The Five of Swords in conjunction with the previous card from the suit warns against striving for too much, we should only take on battles that we are confident we can emerge from victorious.

Alchemical Elements : Air

The coolness of Venus and the flow of Aquarius.

My Relationship with The Five of Swords

When the five appears to me I know that though I often feel invincible, in this situation I must accept that external forces are far more powerful than myself. I know from experience that the desire to fight or bite off more than I can chew, will only leave me feeling disillusioned. Often by accepting defeat I feel victorious as pointless battles are a sure indicator of spiritual immaturity. To be able to release the ego learned lessons and gain satisfaction even in surrender is one of the most powerful experiences that life can show us. One of my mantras has always been to treat others as I would wish to be treated myself, there is no victory in the humiliation of another individual and the power of karma will always repay you. The remaining brick wall in this image is a reminder that we really must not continue to bang our heads against insurmountable odds. We must accept limitations and move forward.

The Four of Swords
The Lord of Rest from Strife

The Four of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Recuperation
Reflection
Retreat
Quietude
Contemplation
Acceptance

The Four of Swords - Appearance

The Four of Swords card features a brick wall broken only by an inviting stained-glass window, the four swords form a cage and the suit of armour signifies withdrawal, solitude & inner reflection.

The Four of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

When The Four of Swords appears a time of retreat renewal and regeneration is indicated. A great deal of thought and reflection over recent events will be necessary, deep contemplation is necessary here in order for the previous lessons to be learnt. This card often appears when an individual is so exhausted that they fail to see that they are extremely anxious and are certainly overreacting. The Four of Swords is an antidote to life's stresses and strains, only by retreat into solitude can the spirit be rebalanced. If the seeker is ready to accept that their thoughts and actions need reassessment then The Four of Swords offers a fast track to rebuilding their outlook. The Knight indicated on this card suggests that only by total acceptance that a period of contemplation and quiet is necessary, can the seeker hope to rejoin their quest refreshed. If the seeker refuses to withdraw and seek a period of relaxation then stress related illness or emotional exhaustion will almost certainly be the result. It is essential when this card is drawn to put the current situation into perspective, only by rebalancing the equilibrium can there be calm.

The Four of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences
The power of Jupiter is balanced by Libra indicating stalemate.

My Relationship with Four of Swords

When The Four of Swords appears to me personally, I accept it wholeheartedly as an indicator that must take a break from my daily trials to recharge my energies. A relaxing holiday with an iPod and a bag full of relaxing inspirational reading is usually all it takes for me to regenerate. It should not be underestimated that The Four of Swords often appears to defuse a period of extreme emotional exhaustion. Distance from recent experience is usually the only way that I can process any mental turmoil, regroup and reappear revitalised with the past in perspective, ready to face my next challenge.  it should be noted that the most important message of The Four of Swords is that it is not enough to throw yourself into other distracting interests, the only solution is quietude and time spent alone to process your thoughts.

The Lord of Sorrow

The Three of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Pain
Emotions
Upheaval
Conflict
Release
Communication

The Three of Swords - Appearance

A pulsing heart is pierced by three swords before a stormy sky.

The Three of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

When the Three swords appears in the seekers reading,  I know diplomacy is going to be necessary. The suit of swords is undoubtedly the darkest suit, and the three can be an exceptionally distressing card. I have found in many hundreds of readings that this card often symbolises the inability to move on from a relationship that has long since finished. If this card appears I know the seeker is more than likely to be obsessed with the thoughts of how their actions could have led to a different outcome. The three of swords is the definitive card of darkness before the dawn. Emotional upheaval surrounds this card and often leads to inability to move on from a painful situation. Regret and anguish must be released before the seeker can satisfactorily move into a happiest days of their life. Likewise any relationships that have reached a stalemate should be honestly reassessed, existing conflict must be faced and an honest discussion regarding the future of the relationship must be instigated.

My Relationship with Three of Swords

The Three of Swords has appeared several times in my life and has forced me to be honest with myself and come to terms with the fact that either a relationship needs serious work, or may possibly be damaged beyond repair. Dysfunctional relationships are the single most damaging experience of life. Only by accepting that a relationship has run its full course can resolution be achieved that may just turn a negative situation into a positive. The hidden meaning of this card is that one must never let the heart rule the head. If you know deep down that you are not happy, the first step is to tell those you love exactly where your needs are not being addressed. If this card appears, instinctively I know that my fears are justified, reconciliation is rarely possible when the Three of Swords appears though not completely impossible, trust your instincts.

The Two of Swords.
The Lord of Peace Restored

The Two of Swords Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Courage
Decision
Balance
Choice
Stalemate
Fear

The Two of Swords - Appearance

The image is of two gold tipped Swords before a stormy moonlit sky above a peaceful river. The scales of balance are situated at the bottom of this card and a blindfold sits between the swords.

The Two of Swords Tarot Card - Interpretation

In a reading this card, the Two of Swords, indicates that you are refusing to face a current dilemma. Nothing can move forward or change until a decision is reached. Often I have seen this card represents stalemate in a relationship of a personal or business nature. The seeker feels frozen and the swords though perfectly balanced show the deadlock has been reached and the life changing choice is to be made. The point of no return has been reached, the decision must now be made before the blindfold can be lifted. The blindfold indicates a hidden choice that must be made through careful thought, external forces must not be considered. This card always indicates that the seeker is ignoring the situation in the hope that it may simply disappear. This is never the case and action must be taken before it is possible to move your life forward.

The Two of Swords Tarot Card - Correspondences

Libra is in perfect balance, the Moon signifies reflection

Alchemical Elements : Air

My Relationship with Two of Swords

When the Two of Swords appears to me, I know that a confusing decision is to be made. The stakes are always high and careful thought is the only action that can lift me from confusion. If I draw the Two of Swords before bed I know that I'm in for an uneasy night, and much mental wrangling will occur before a decision is reached. I know that however I decide to proceed I must have full confidence in my actions, the swords are perfectly balanced and one wrong move can throw my situation into turmoil. When the blindfold is finally removed and the swords are laid down, I can be confident that the correct choice has been made. One final note with the two, the decision here must be made with total conviction or the negative energy of the swords suit will be activated. Everyone faces a similar battle at some point in their life, hard decisions involving truly opposing forces in our lives and can only strengthen our character. When the blindfold is lifted I know that only light can come from darkness, perfect balance or equilibrium can never been maintained and must always lead to change.

The King of Pentacles Tarot Card - Meaning in a Tarot reading :

Patience
Morality
Skill
Mastery
Industry
Creativity
Artistic

The King of Pentacles - Appearance
The King of Pentacles is a modern King who has mastery over all he touches. The grapes indicate that he is able to harvest success from any situation. The image of the bull is obscured by an astrological chart, this indicates that though this King is undoubtedly successful he is in touch with the more esoteric aspects of life. The image of the Tower often indicates in a reading that a connection with Europe or the middle east is significant. The soaring plane hints at international success & worldly knowledge, the golden pentacle of course indicates financial success though the King of Pentacles keeps his success in perspective. An enjoyable life, creativity & a keen interest in culture are the main traits associated with this King.

The King of Pentacles Tarot Card - Interpretation

The King of Pentacles when he appears in your reading is hinting that you need to use your abilities wisely to enhance your life & the lives of those who are important to you. An association with Aries or Taurus means that the card often warns that the seeker needs to curb their natural temperament, to always be aware that their fiery persona may overwhelm. An underlying meaning of this card is that compulsive behaviour needs to be identified & controlled. When the King has accepted these aspects of his personality mastery of any field he enters is guaranteed. The King is a natural leader with highly developed social skills, emotionally the King is centred with a developed spiritual side that gives him almost extra sensory skill to instantly read any situation. The King knows instinctively how to motivate people as he has experienced life to the full, he freely gives advice that though may appear blunt, will certainly be useful.

The greatest lesson from The King is that anything you desire can be manifested in to your reality, that you truly deserve anything that you desire. The King is inspirational to me & when he appears reminds me that going with the flow, trusting your gut instincts, is the only way to proceed through life. The King of Pentacles is a great advocate of using his skill to help others & indeed utilising the skills of others to serve his purpose. The vine of the King always reminds me that I indeed have had a charmed life, the astrological chart shows me that I must accept that people are all individuals with different characteristics, I need to adjust my behaviour to generate synchronicity with anyone who enters my circle. Finally the King of Pentacle is a card of heightened senses, the King responds well to all stimulation though his sense of touch is undoubtedly the most highly developed.
